I am curious about how diverse the characters will be in the game. I like the idea of having different sexual orientations implemented and having different ethnicities in the game. But what about mental illnesses? I rarely see this added into games. And even if it is in a game, it’s alway been viewed negatively and stereotypically. Mental illness has always been in my life, whether it was my mother and her daily struggles with bipolar, my nephew with autism,…, my sister and my father taking care of patients at the local center, and also with myself diagnosed with panic attack disorder. I guess what I’m trying to ask is if this will featured in your game. I think it would be a great feature in the game and would mean a lot to someone who has been surrounded and influenced by mental illness in her life and to others, as well.
Good question well I have answered a similar question previously but let me explain again. While we do want to be as inclusive as we can, just being inclusive for inclusivity sake is bad. What that means for the theme and mood of the game we are making, introducing mental illnesses will be near impossible to portray without being seen as:
1 insulting, dismissive, glamorized.
In other to do a game properly with mental illness the whole game would be best to be written around that theme, instead of forcibly self inserting it just to have it there.
We have many other types of characters that already break the norm of what we see other games, and so we’re continuing to work on those. However we will keep it in consideration if we feel confident enough to represent mental illness properly.
However that would be left to the players, if they wanted to roleplay. Without being the direct we want the NPCs (At least the ones that aren’t grumpy) to make everyone feel welcome and beautiful no matter who they are.
I was just wondering what year will the game be coming out, I’m really excited to try it out since I’m non-binary and I’m always forced to choose between male and female in gaming so I think its really cool your doing this! :)
We’re hoping 2 years, 3 years maximum for hitting any obstacles or roadblocks which my stop us from publishing. I know some people have critiqued us on this timeline, but before you do a quick cursory search on how long it takes to develop MMORPGS and or major single player games from start to finish, you will find our timeline is not that long for the size team we have.
Hello, I had a question and I couldn’t find the answer so I thought I’d ask directly, my partner suffers from a chronic illness and told me she would have loved to join the kickstarter but heard about it after the project was funded. Is it possible to back the project still? (at a 15-20 dollar level) Thank you!
You can still donate here if you missed it :)
Beta is a little bit more but if you wanted to get the Kick Pack (3 special items in inventory) and the Art PDF is the same price temporarily for any last minute purchases :)
Thank you guys <3
More updates soon.
